Michael L. McCarthy is admitted to practice law in all Courts of the State of New York and the State of Florida. He is a member of the New York State Bar Association, the Florida State Bar Association and the Suffolk County Bar Association. Additionally, he is admitted to practice law in the United States District Court for the Eastern and Western Districts of New York.
Mr. McCarthy is a former Assistant Suffolk County Attorney. From March, 1987 through January, 1992, he was an Assistant Huntington Town Attorney, representing the Planning Board, the Office of the Assessor and the Town of Huntington in various municipal and litigation capacities.
Mr. McCarthy concentrates his practice in the areas of municipal law, land use, zoning and development, real estate, environmental law and related litigation. As an attorney with over 39 years experience, Mr. McCarthy appears regularly to present applications on behalf of clients and developers before the various boards and agencies in the Towns and Villages of Suffolk County and Nassau County, New York.
Educational
Michael L. McCarthy is a graduate of Walt Whitman High School, Class of 1979. He attended the State University of New York (SUNY Oneonta Campus) and received his Bachelor of Science degree in Business and Economics in 1983. Mr. McCarthy obtained his Juris Doctorate from St. John’s University in 1986. He is a member of the Energeia Partnership – Class of 2010. Mr. McCarthy occasionally lectures for the Suffolk County Bar Association.
Personal
Michael L. McCarthy was born and raised in the Town of Huntington, New York, where he currently practices law. He and his wife Kimberly have three children. Michael enjoys boating, skiing, golf and fishing in his spare time.
